Thia is prim and proper.
Bear is leather and lawless.
It will never work between them.
It’s a lie they almost believe…
“I’ve been a ruined man for a long time. I can’t ruin you too.”
Aside from its brutality, one of the strongest aspects of Frazier’s work is that she knows how to create aninteresting female character , with an actual personality – something missing in many a romance novel these days. Thia is no exception. Dark shit happens very close to the beginning of this novel, and yet she is a character who bounces back, doesn’t allow herself to be a victim, and comes out even stronger because of it. She’s one trigger-happy badass who isn’t afraid to make difficult decisions when she needs to. She’s wise beyond her years. In fact, she is probably at this point my favourite of the women in this universe.
We were two tortured souls. Both in more ways than one person should ever have to experience.
But we found each other.
Although Bear, for me, doesn’t quite beat King in terms of fictional soulmate material, he’s still a sexy, rugged, broken guy capable of breaking hearts but not quite of accepting love. This is an interesting journey for him; we’ve seen him brutally tortured in the previous instalment, and this is what he does following on from that. This is him picking himself back up and learning how to live again. It’s a beautiful, whirlwind romance bordering on fate.
As ever, Frazier throws in some stunning plot twistsalongside the dark brutality and smoking sex scenes, and leaves this on a mighty cliffhanger, preparing us for the sequel. I, for one, cannot wait.
