What a brilliantly clever piece of writing.

This is my first encounter with K. Webster’s work, despite her having been on my TBR for rather a long time. It was well worth the wait.

I went into this expecting a dark erotic read with little substance. I was happily mistaken. This story is one of the most meticulously planned, and perfectly executed novels I’ve downloaded to my Kindle. The gorgeously slow reveals, the depth and complexity of the characters – it was, frankly, stunning. Yes, it’s both dark and erotic, but it’s a hell of a lot deeper than that. It explores tragedy, abuse, hardship and passion, and Webster doesn’t shy away from the grit that makes this story so believable and emotionally captivating.

Dirty Ugly Toy is a spellbinding tale of two broken people, of family, and of strength. The end page is like nothing you would expect from the opening – and that’s what makes this great: its unpredictability.
